Bentley Technology Park - Net Zero - Sustainability

Net Zero - Sustainability

Hand-in-hand with DevelopmentWA’s commitment to the State Government’s net zero vision is the prioritisation of clean energy in our projects from day one. As a government trading enterprise, we collaborate with government agencies; helping to guide approvals for renewable energy investment, ultimately minimising risk in this relatively new space.

With the transfer of Bentley Technology Park to DevelopmentWA the State Government allocated $7.5 million in State Recovery Plan funds to refurbish the centre and other aspects of the Park. As part of this investment DevelopmentWA were tasked with acquiring a Net-Zero certification for Brodie Hall Function Centre, now known as, The Hub.

To achieve Net-Zero Certification DevelopmentWA are delivering the following:

  1. As a result of the building refurbishment works, an estimated 8% reduction in total energy load is estimated to be achieved by undertaking the following:
    1. Upgrading lighting to LED
    2. Upgrading air-conditioning system
  2. A rooftop 99.6kW PV array together with a 360kWh battery electrical storage system will provide a forecast 91% of the total electrical consumption for The Hub. The remaining 9% of energy represents less than 17MWh annually and will be supplied by ‘clean energy’ sourced from the mains grid.

Once the net-zero infrastructure is installed and the changing of gas appliances in the cafe to electric has occurred, DevelopmentWA will enter a 12-month monitoring period to assess the building’s performance and fine-tuning.  This exercise will be the final step in delivering the net-zero certification. Monitoring of the building’s performance will be undertaken by Select Live Monitoring as we strive for International Living Future Institute certification. https://living-future.org/
